by Flávio de Carvalho, 1950’

The FDC1 lounge chair designed by Flavio de Carvalho is one of the designer’s masterpieces. Once deemed as a “romantic revolutionary” by Le Corbusier himself, de Carvalho was one of the most influential figures of the Brazilian modernist movement. This rare furniture designed in the 50’s for his famous project, the Capuava ranch, is a great representation of the designer’s visionary work.

The tribal-inspired chair with a wink to sadomasochism, FDC1 was at that time very avant-gard. Remaining modern furniture, the iconic shape with its graphic qualities stands as a sculptural work of art in any room – a true statement piece.
